#HISCORES RUNESCAPE TRIAL#
It's too much of a drop to be explained by a bunch of people cancelling their subscription in tandem, not to mention that a ton of trial members apparently quit as well. The easy answer would be that a bunch of people were upset with the Evolution of Combat and cancelled their membership around November 20 (when the Evolution of Combat was released), and then it took a week for those names to go off the hiscores. First and foremost, there was a monstrous drop between November 24 and November 29 2012, of 50%-70% of overall members, 35%-45% of individual skills, and 15%-25% of level 99 skills. There are a few things that stand out about the graphs. I only made graphs for one skill because they all look very similar. So the numbers from 9/25/12 to 11/24/12 aren't accurate and could be an overestimate. Note the precipitous drop in November 2011 when about half of all players with 30+ Farming got knocked off the list because they were no longer members.īecause the number of players recorded on the overall hiscores is capped at 2,000,000, I had to estimate the actual number of players on the hiscores using the stats from other skills. here is the Farming hiscores over the last five years. If anyone wants to see data from earlier please ask - the coverage is much spottier, but there's still some useful stuff. The November 2011+ data for all skills is available here. The data goes back as far as 2008 or so, but I cut it off at November 2011 because that's when the hiscores were switched to members-only.

It counts the number of players currently on the hiscores with either 99 in the skill (case 1) or with at least 15 in the skill/33 overall (case 2).

This uses data collected between 22 November 2011 and yesterday from Template:99s and Template:Hiscores lowest rank on the wiki.
